ARCANA™ Pavers – Strength and Elegance for Every Space – ARCANA™ pavers provide a durable and stylish solution for driveway paving, patios, and walkways. A DriveGrid™ stabilization grid between the subgrade and base material ensures maximum stability. This foundation supports permeable pavement and enhances the longevity of concrete pavers in high-traffic areas.

Base Preparation for Lasting Durability – Proper base installation is essential for pavers driveway and patio pavers. A Standard Base includes 6” to 8” of ¾” #57 limestone, compacted to 98% Standard Proctor Density (SPD), followed by a #9 limestone. For permeable paving, a ¾” clear stone base (ASTM No. 57) with ¼” chip stone bedding ensures efficient water drainage.

Jointing Materials for Secure Installation – Choosing the right jointing material enhances the performance of interlocking pavers. Sand must meet ASTM C144 or C33 standards. Sharp jointing sand is a good option, while polymeric sand for pavers provides increased stability. Keeping the material 1/8” below the chamfer edge ensures a seamless finish for  patio pavers designs.

Handling and Edge Restraints for Stability – ARCANA™ paver stones have a zero bevel edge, requiring careful handling to prevent chipping. Edge restraints, such as spike-in plastic or metal restraints, secure the layout. Adding retaining wall stones or retaining wall blocks can further support sloped areas, making them ideal for retaining walls and landscaping bricks.

Cleaning and Sealing for Enhanced Protection – Regular maintenance keeps ARCANA™ paving stones looking pristine. Use a paver-specific cleaner for color restoration. While sealing is optional, an approved paver sealer can protect against stains and wear. Ensure the surface is clean before sealing and test a small area before applying to sealing pavers completely.

ADA Compliance for Accessibility – ARCANA™ patio pavers and stone walkways can be installed to meet ADA guidelines. To maintain accessibility, gaps should not exceed ½” horizontally or ¼” vertically, and prevent tripping hazards. This is especially important when installing paver stairs, outdoor steps, and ramps in public or private spaces.
