Position Title: Equipment Operator
Basic Function: Load customers and maintain the appearance of Bulk Lot, Prep Orders
Minimum Knowledge/Education Requirements: 2 years experience preferred.
Authority level: Low
Reports to: Operations Manager.
General Job Responsibilities: Manage customer flow of traffic through the bulk lot, assist customers with loading product & oversee the general maintenance of the grounds. Also responsible for building and maintaining good rapport with retail customers and contractors, alike. Prep and load orders for shipment and orders for drive-in customers. After proper training, developing adequate job skills, and building customer relations, many decisions will be made independently.
Itemized Responsibilities & Tasks:
- Load customer's and company vehicles.
- Prioritize and manage loading sequences.
- Follow safe loading practices.
- Accurately check/mark customer receipts.
- Explain basic features, benefits & uses of different products.
- Engage customers with a friendly demeanor.
- Operate forklift when necessary (only after proper certification).
- Comply with posted loading/unloading company policies & procedures.
- Maintain appearance & general safety of the yard.
- Complete daily checklists.
- Check fuel levels in fuel tanks and equipment daily.
- Monitor product levels and inform Assistant Operations Manager when low.
- Ensure all fallen product (stone & bags) is restacked and presentable.
- Ensure all walking & drivable surfaces are swept and safe.
- Continually consolidate concrete products, bags & natural stone.
- Ensure all tasks/issues pertaining to the upkeep and management of the grounds and store are addressed.
- Inform Assistant Operations Manager Yard Manager of any safety or product presentation issues/concerns.
- Complete all tasks assigned by the Assistant Operations Manager or Yard Manager.
- Perform other various situation-based functions pertaining to daily customer and manager needs.
- Contact Yard Manager on duty with any other yard related questions.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- At least 18 years of age (in order to operate machinery).
- Minimum of 6 months experience with Skid Steer or similar loaders.
- Ability to make good decisions quickly.
- Follow safe loading practices.
- Have a keen sense of awareness.
- Possess a personable & pleasant demeanor.
- Reliable and punctual, aware of one’s schedule/consistently on time.
- Ability to handle fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to prioritize loading sequences.
- Ability to lift 80 lbs. repetitively over the course of 8 hours.
- Ability to learn new product information quickly.
- Willingness to communicate courteously with other employees and customers.
- Ability to explain most features & benefits of products.
- Willingness to comply with company policies & procedures.
- Willingness to be subject to random drug and alcohol tests.
- Ability to count efficiently & accurately.
- Ability to formulate basic mathematical equations.
- Ability to complete assigned tasks on time.
Performance Evaluations:
Evaluations will be given after 30 days, 90 days, and 6 months. After a year of employment at Mr. Mulch, evaluations will be done every 6 months. Evaluations will be conducted by the Assistant Operations Manager.
