Position Title: Sales Associate
Basic Function: Assists customers with questions concerning product information & services.
Minimum Knowledge/Education Requirements: High School Diploma, Experience in the Landscape Industry.
Authority level: Low
Reports to: Sales Manager.

General Job Responsibilities: Generate sales by guiding customers through the purchasing process. Offer design ideas, suggestions, and product insights; enter register transactions, process orders, help manage customer assistance & flow; assist in returns of product and complete associated task checklists. Also responsible for completing common office tasks assigned by Sales Manager (e.g., filing, sorting, research, cleaning, mailings & other given tasks). After proper training, developing adequate job skills, and building customer rapport, many decisions are made independently.

Itemized Responsibilities & Tasks:

  1. Assist Customers.
    1. Build and maintain good rapport with customers and contractors on behalf of the company.
    2. Take product orders face to face & over the phone.
    3. Direct any inbound calls as needed.
    4. Ensure efficient flow of customers.
    5. Accurately explain features and benefits of different products.
    6. Calculate product volumes for customers.
    7. Accurately inform the customer of the costs of products and projects.
    8. Know & describe common uses & origins of all available products.
    9. Suggest other items needed for different projects.
    10. Help resolve any customer issues.
    11. Find/Provide answers to any other pertinent customer questions.
    12. Assist customers in loading/unloading product when necessary.
    13. Accurately and efficiently enter and process orders/transactions.

  2. Maintain Office Work Area.
    1. Ensure sales area remains presentable at all times.
    2. Complete daily checklists.

  3. Other/Miscellaneous.
    1. Create new documents/data as needed/requested by Sales Manager.
    2. Report any and all progress, problems, concerns to Sales Manager.
    3. Periodically inform Sales Manager of the status/effectiveness/relevance of outside and inside displays.
    4. Perform other various situation-based functions pertaining to daily customer and manager needs.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  1. At least 18 years of age.
  2. Possess a personable & pleasant demeanor.
  3. Proficiency in basic computer software including MicroSoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, & Internet Explorer.
  4. Ability to handle fast-paced, stressful work environment.
  5. Ability to multi-task.
  6. Ability to handle customer complaints & other difficult situations calmly & successfully.
  7. Ability to learn & retain product information quickly.
  8. Patience in explaining features, benefits, and calculations of products.
  9. Ability to formulate intermediate to complex mathematical equations.
  10. Willingness to comply with company policies & procedures.
  11. Possess superior customer relation skills.
  12. Willingness to effectively and courteously communicate with other employees and customers.
  13. Willingness to be subject to random drug and alcohol tests.

Performance Evaluations:

Evaluations will be given by immediate supervisor 30 days, 90 days, and 6 months after date of hire. After one year of employment at Mr. Mulch, evaluations will be given every 6 months. Evaluations will be conducted by the Sales Manager.
