Position Title: Delivery Driver
Basic Function: Delivers customer ordered product to surrounding areas.
Minimum Knowledge/Education Requirements: 2 years experience preferred.
Authority level: Low
Reports to: General Manager, JP Transport.
General Job Responsibilities: Operate Class A, B, or Non-CDL delivery trucks, depending on certification, hauling cargo for J.P. Transport.
Itemized Responsibilities & Tasks:
- Operate and maneuver all trucks in a safe, courteous manner.
- Complete assigned deliveries on schedule.
- Perform all required vehicle safety inspections.
- Fill out, maintain, and turn in all associated driver logs in accordance with DOT Regulations.
- Review shipping documents for correct information and instructions.
- Ensure truck is loaded with correct product and quantity.
- Secure all loads in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Communicate with Dispatcher and/or customer as instructed on shipping documents/orders.
- Review and be familiar with most effective routes to pickup/delivery location.
- Confirm all load/unload schedules with Dispatcher.
- Set & adjust appointments as needed to meet delivery deadlines.
- Ensure all required shipping documents/receipts are signed, maintained and distributed properly.
- Continuously & promptly report the status of all loads to Dispatcher.
- Report any delays immediately.
- Maintain the safety and cleanliness of any truck driven.
- Complete any other checklists as given by Dispatcher or General Manager.
- Perform other various situation-based functions pertaining to daily customer and manager needs.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- At least 18 years of age.
- Possess a personable & pleasant demeanor.
- Ability to handle fast-paced, stressful work environment.
- Ability to handle customer complaints & other difficult situations successfully.
- Ability to learn & retain general product information.
- Ability to formulate basic mathematical equations.
- Ability to effectively use 2-way phones.
- Willingness to comply with all company policies & procedures.
- Willingness to effectively & courteously communicate with other employees and customers.
- Willingness to be subject to random drug and alcohol tests.
Performance Evaluations:
Evaluations will be given after 30 days, 90 days, and 6 months. After a year of employment with JP Transport, evaluations will be done every 6 months. Evaluations will be conducted by the General Manager.
