Position Title: Delivery Driver
Basic Function: Delivers customer ordered product to surrounding areas.
Minimum Knowledge/Education Requirements: 2 years experience preferred.
Authority level: Low
Reports to: General Manager, JP Transport.

General Job Responsibilities: Operate Class A, B, or Non-CDL delivery trucks, depending on certification, hauling cargo for J.P. Transport.

Itemized Responsibilities & Tasks:

  1. Operate and maneuver all trucks in a safe, courteous manner.
  2. Complete assigned deliveries on schedule.
  3. Perform all required vehicle safety inspections.
  4. Fill out, maintain, and turn in all associated driver logs in accordance with DOT Regulations.
  5. Review shipping documents for correct information and instructions.
  6. Ensure truck is loaded with correct product and quantity.
  7. Secure all loads in compliance with DOT regulations.
  8. Communicate with Dispatcher and/or customer as instructed on shipping documents/orders.
  9. Review and be familiar with most effective routes to pickup/delivery location.
  10. Confirm all load/unload schedules with Dispatcher.
  11. Set & adjust appointments as needed to meet delivery deadlines.
  12. Ensure all required shipping documents/receipts are signed, maintained and distributed properly.
  13. Continuously & promptly report the status of all loads to Dispatcher.
  14. Report any delays immediately.
  15. Maintain the safety and cleanliness of any truck driven.
  16. Complete any other checklists as given by Dispatcher or General Manager.
  17. Perform other various situation-based functions pertaining to daily customer and manager needs.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. At least 18 years of age.
  2. Possess a personable & pleasant demeanor.
  3. Ability to handle fast-paced, stressful work environment.
  4. Ability to handle customer complaints & other difficult situations successfully.
  5. Ability to learn & retain general product information.
  6. Ability to formulate basic mathematical equations.
  7. Ability to effectively use 2-way phones.
  8. Willingness to comply with all company policies & procedures.
  9. Willingness to effectively & courteously communicate with other employees and customers.
  10. Willingness to be subject to random drug and alcohol tests.

Performance Evaluations:

Evaluations will be given after 30 days, 90 days, and 6 months. After a year of employment with JP Transport, evaluations will be done every 6 months. Evaluations will be conducted by the General Manager.
